The card guide is a reference for you during the activity to help you question and prompt your students. It gives all the content of the cards and proposes which may be more / less relevant for different courses of learning. It is only a guide and there are likely to be many different interpretations.
The personal action plan can be used throughout the session to help students work out how relevant a course of learning may be to their needs. It prompts them to find out more before they make their final decision.

Time Out
Time Out - An excellent tool for motivating students during their learning programme! It reminds students of their reasons for their choice and addresses any concerns they have.

Resources - this activity requires no additional resources!

The 'Think' task slide briefs the students in their groups on the task before starting the activity. It is a very important task that puts the whole activity in context for students as well as determining success in the game. Showing the slide may also save you time in writing up a flipchart.
The Group Review slide asks groups on completion of the game to review it and identify their top three concerns with the course of learning they are pursuing. This will enable you to discuss and work with them on action to reduce the effects of these.
The Class Action plan can be used to capture the actions you agree with the group to manage their top concerns raised during the activity.
The Personal Action Plan encourages students to identify the issues they may face and how they will address them. This is a useful means for you to guage and provide any necessary one-to-one guidance or support.

The On Track Personal Action Plan is for your students to record their own project plan and the timeframe in which they need to complete each task. You can then use this with the student to monitor and support their progress appropriately.
The Assignment Brief slide is a prompt and a discussion aid for you to make sure you can answer any questions students may have about what is expected in the assignment or project before they start to plan. If they know clearly what is expected, their plans will be more realistic and they will be more able to manage their own learning.
The Group Challenge slide outlines what is expected from students in the planning task - emphasising the importance of trying to find activities that can be done at the same time as well as those that naturally have to follow each other.
You may want to use the Example Solution (School Performance) slide as an example of what is expected as an output from the planning task.
The Example Solution (Assignment) slide is there as a reference for you. There is no right answer to this task as the solution depends on the nature of the assignment itself and the time available. There may also be different interpretations of the stages. What is most important is the logic that the students are using.

You may want to use the Skill Swap Rules slide as an aid when you describe the rules of the game to students.
Each group will need to keep a record of their scores as each role is played. The Skill Swap Scoring Grid slide shows how you can do this and how you can display them on flipcharts for each group.
The Personal Action Plan encourages each student to identify those particular functional skills they want to develop further once they have seen their importance in the work setting The next files relate to the case studies:
